Effective date: September 24, 2026
Waldrop Advisory LLC (“Waldrop Advisory,” “we,” “us”) operates waldropadvisory.com (the “Site”). This policy explains what information we collect through the Site and our marketing, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It does not cover information exchanged under a signed client engagement, which is governed by that engagement’s agreement and any confidentiality terms in it.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you submit a form, book a discovery call, request a book excerpt or materials, subscribe to our communications, or email us, we collect what you provide: typically your name, email address, phone and mobile number, organization, title, mailing address, location, and the content of your message. We also keep a record of the consents you give us, including when and how you agreed to receive email or text messages. Discovery calls are scheduled through Microsoft Bookings, which collects the details you enter there on our behalf.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our advertising and analytics partners automatically collect technical and usage information, including your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, device identifiers, referring page, pages viewed, links clicked, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies (see “Cookies, pixels, and advertising” below). Our marketing emails may also record whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. Our security tools log IP addresses and request data to detect and block malicious traffic.
Information from other sources. We may receive information from LinkedIn, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and Google in connection with our advertising — for example, when you submit a lead form on one of those platforms or respond to one of our ads. We may also combine what you share through referrals, conferences, events, and our books with what you send through the Site so we can respond to you in context.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers, financial account numbers, or health information). Please do not send it through our forms.
How we use information
- To respond to inquiries, schedule and hold discovery calls, and follow up on conversations you started
- To evaluate, propose, and deliver advisory services
- To send marketing email, direct mail, and text messages, as described in “Marketing communications” below
- To advertise our services on LinkedIn, Meta, and Google, including showing ads to people who have visited the Site and measuring how those ads perform
- To understand how the Site is used and improve it
- To keep the Site secure, prevent abuse, and maintain backups
- To keep records of consent and opt-outs, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our Terms of Use
Marketing communications
Email. If you contact us, book a call, request materials, or subscribe, we may send you email about our services, insights, events, and books. Some of these emails are sent automatically based on actions you take (for example, a follow-up after you request a book excerpt). Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor opt-outs promptly and within 10 business days. You will still receive messages directly related to an active conversation or engagement.
Direct mail. If you give us a mailing address — for example, when requesting a book chapter or materials — we may send printed materials to that address, prepared by us or a mailing and fulfillment service. To stop receiving mail, email us with “Stop Mail” in the subject line.
Text messages (SMS). We send marketing and informational text messages, which may be sent using automated technology, only to people who have given express written consent to receive them. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any service. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Full details are in our SMS Terms.
Mobile information is not shared. We do not share, sell, or rent mobile phone numbers or text-messaging opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The sharing described elsewhere in this policy excludes text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; that information is not shared with any third party, except with service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf.
Cookies, pixels, and advertising
The Site uses the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential — needed for the Site to function, load efficiently, and stay secure. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — Google Analytics, deployed through Google Tag Manager, helps us understand aggregate traffic: how visitors arrive, which pages they read, and how long they stay.
- Advertising and retargeting — the LinkedIn Insight Tag, the Meta Pixel, and Google advertising tags let those companies collect information about your visit (such as pages viewed, IP address, and device and browser information) and match it to their own users. We use this to show our ads to people who have visited the Site, to reach similar professional audiences, and to measure whether our ads lead to inquiries. These companies may use the information according to their own privacy policies, including linking it to your account on their platforms.
Your cookie choices. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies through the cookie banner on the Site and change your choice at any time through the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer. You can also:
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings
- Opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and manage Google ads at myadcenter.google.com
- Manage LinkedIn advertising at linkedin.com/psettings/advertising
- Manage Meta advertising at facebook.com/adpreferences
- Opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org
Global Privacy Control. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out of advertising and retargeting cookies for that browser. Browsers’ “Do Not Track” signals have no common industry standard, and the Site does not respond to them separately.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information for money. We share information with:
- Advertising and analytics partners — LinkedIn, Meta, and Google collect information through the cookies and pixels described above. Under California law, allowing this collection for targeted advertising may be considered “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and it may be considered a “sale” under some other state laws. You can opt out as described in “Your choices and rights.”
- Service providers who operate the Site and our business on our behalf and may use information only for those purposes. These include our web hosting provider; Microsoft (email and Bookings scheduling); Google (analytics and encrypted site backups); our email marketing, text messaging, and customer-relationship management platforms; printing, mailing, and fulfillment services; and content-delivery, caching, security, and image-optimization providers.
- Affiliated advisors and subcontractors working with us on a specific matter you have asked us to discuss, and only to the extent needed.
- Legal and safety recipients when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when necessary to protect our rights, our clients, or others.
- A successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of the practice, subject to this policy.
How long we keep information
- Inquiries and correspondence: as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain the relationship, and keep business records — generally no longer than three years after our last contact unless an engagement results, in which case engagement records follow our standard retention practices and any legal or tax requirements.
- Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe or we stop sending to you. We keep a suppression record after you opt out so we don’t contact you again.
- Consent and opt-out records: as long as needed to show we had permission to contact you — generally at least five years after our last message to you.
- Analytics data: no longer than 14 months under our analytics settings. Advertising partners keep data according to their own policies.
- Site backups: removed on a regular rolling schedule.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls, security monitoring, and encrypted backups. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, how we use it, and who we share it with
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete information we hold about you, subject to legal and recordkeeping exceptions
- Opt out of targeted advertising, “sharing,” and “sale” — use the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email us
- Stop marketing — unsubscribe from email, reply STOP to texts, or email us to stop direct mail
To make a request, email privacy@waldropadvisory.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line, or call (828) 707-7484. We will verify your request using contact information we already have and respond within 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof of that authorization. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with “Appeal” in the subject line.
California residents. In the past 12 months we collected identifiers (such as name, email, phone, mailing address, IP address), professional information (organization and title), internet and network activity (browsing and ad interaction on the Site), approximate location, and inferences drawn from them — from the sources and for the purposes described above. We disclosed identifiers and internet activity to service providers for business purposes, and shared identifiers and internet activity with advertising partners (LinkedIn, Meta, and Google) for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require offering a right to limit. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, you may also ask whether we have disclosed your personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing; we do not make such disclosures.
Children
The Site and our communications are intended for business professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
We are based in California and the Site is hosted in the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
Third-party links
The Site links to third-party sites such as LinkedIn, X, Amazon, and our affiliated publishing site. Their privacy practices are their own; review their policies before sharing information with them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site, our marketing, or the law changes. We will post the revised version here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page.
